Song Sharing Sunday #229 - Drive By ~ Train

There are many songs that can get me swaying naturally and this is one of them.
A song that comes to my mind easily whenever we are heading to McDonald's Drive Thru......
Drive By to grab a bite.....

Review on First Visit to Jem

Heard so much of the latest big shopping mall in Jurong East : Jem
So we went there for lunch on purpose and took a stroll inside as well.
We were at the Jem junction at 2:12pm yesterday.

But before we could even get in, we were stuck in the 'car queue' outside Jem, waiting to get in.
We thought the carpark was full, but after waiting for 14mins and could finally enter, we saw a number of empty lots in the carpark.

I wonder if there is any miscommunication somewhere between the staff who was on the road preventing cars from entering the carpark and the staff who is watching out for empty lots in the carpark.
I am sure there is miscommunication somewhere, because when we entered, the screen showed "Lots Available : 68".
In fact, we found empty lots just NEXT to the travellator that leads us to the shops! Those are what I call "Prime Lots", very difficult to get.

I hope they would settle this problem soon as it really irks shoppers who drive there; well, it did make us want to drive out of the long car queue and just drive off to the nearby IMM which has ample parking lots during this time of the day : Past 2pm.

=========

Well, we persevered and finally got in.
Finding a place to sit in the Cook House (foodcourt at level 5) was easy, but the waiting time to get our food was tough!
It was a terrible experience from the pasta store, the wait was way too long for us. From not hungry to hungry!

Though the kids' food did not need to wait as long as hubby's and mine, the kids said that their fishball noodles did not taste nice.
Maybe the choices we made yesterday happened to steer off the track.
*shrugged*

So it was Thumbs Down for our experience at Cook House.

The stroll in Jem was ok.
Nothing really made us go "Wow" though.
We were just very surprised to see a couple of brands which have shops in JCube are also in Jem too; when the two malls are just an mrt track plus a small stretch of road away. Isn't that too near? Lack of variety for shoppers in Jurong East, I feel.

But I must say that I like the variety or brands of restaurants that were in Jem.
I liked 90% of them!
*wink*

We started off on the wrong foot with the long car queue outside Jem.
Did not expect to end it with another problem too.
The car infront of us had problem with the carpark barrier. It just refused to raise to let the car exit.
So we went to the other barrier next to it, same thing happened to us.
We had to drive forward and backward a few times, then insert and re-insert our cashcard into the IU a couple of times, before the barrier could FINALLY raise to let us go.

Hubby said: "If there isn't a need to be here, I would not want to come here again."
Sad to say, I agree.
Though I may like the selection of restaurants here, but they are also available at other shopping malls that give shoppers who drive a more pleasant experience.

So unless they solve this 'car queue' issue, we will not be going there again.....

Supper at Yong He Dou Jiang You Tiao Da Wang

A place that hubby and I often go to for supper after midnight during our dating days: Yong He Dou Jiang You Tiao Da Wang.

Back then in 1998, it was at a different spot in the busy Geylang Road from today. They had moved to a much smaller corner now at Geylang Lorong 24A, which operates 24hours.

Though the address might have changed, the taste is still as good as before (in my opinion). However, we noticed that the business has decreased much as compared to 15 years ago. It was so tough to find an empty table back then; and just to grab the staff's attention to take down our order was just as difficult too, they were so busy......Always!

Now, the seating space is less than half of what it used to be, yet there were still a number of empty seats. We were surprised.

Before our late night visit today, we had brought the kids there during tea-break a couple of times, the crowd was more or less the same as when its near midnight. Hhhhmmm....could it be the fengshui of the shop? Or did something happen that had caused Yong He Dou Jiang You Tiao Da Wang to have a bad name? I have no idea where have the fans disappeared to. *shrugged*

Anyhow, we enjoyed our supper today.
Reached Yong He Dou Jiang You Tiao Da Wang at about 11.10pm and was glad to find an empty table beside our car.

Elder son ordered his favourite Humongous You Tiao and warm soya bean drink which is served in a bowl, instead of cup. Only cold soya bean drinks are served in cups.
I cannot find anywhere else that sells You Tiao longer than the ones sold here. Its really Huge!

Younger son just wanted to eat the soya bean curd and help his brother to finish a small portion of his Long and Big You Tiao.

Hubby had another You Tiao all to himself with cold soya bean drink.

And me?
My favourite Mee Sua (Taiwan Noodle)!!!
Yum!
Plus cold soya bean drink!
Slurp!

Oh! I forgot to mention that it is Yong He Dou Jiang You Tiao Da Wang's practise NOT to put ice in the cold soya bean drink, to preserve its original taste and prevent it from getting diluted by the melting ice.

During our dating days, we often order their Toasted Bun with Meat Floss, Steamed Dumplings, Carrot Cake and Lu Rou Fan. All Yummilicious!!!!

Whatever that made their business decreased so much, which I have no clue at all, it is not going to stop this family of mine from patronising them again.

*Thumbs Up*

Song Sharing Sunday #227 - Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know

A song which my elder boy cannot stop singing (the chorus) after he heard it in one of those 'soccer videos'.
He did not know the title of the song and guessed that the title was "Didn't have to stoop so low".
Surprisingly, he was able to find the song on YouTube with that wrong title! *laugh*

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know Lyrics

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
I told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kinda sadness

Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing
I don't even need your love
but you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough

No, you didn't have to stoop so low

Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over

But had me believe'n it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know-oh-oh

But you didn't have cut me off

Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing (oh)
I don't even need your love,
but you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
(oh)

No, you didn't have to stoop so low

Have your friends collect you records
And then change your number (oh)
Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Somebody

that I used to know
Somebody
(now you're just somebody that I used to know)

 Somebody
that I used to know
Somebody
(now you're just somebody that I used to know)

That I used to know

That I used to know
That I used to know
Somebody.......

Song Sharing Sunday #226 - Price Tag - Jessie J

Its amazing how love can change a person.
Its also fascinating how one may change when he/she stays with someone who has different likes and dislikes from himself/herself.

Hubby started to pay attention/listens to English songs only after we became a couple.....*wink*

......and ever since he heard this song on the radio, it has been etched into his head.....it was funny when he started to sing the chorus suddenly during our family Monopoly Game time today.
*laugh*
