Saltimbanco by Cirque Du Soleil Singapore

When Cirque Du Soleil came to Singapore many years ago, I could hardly feed my family and I vowed to myself that I must get out of my dreadful financial situation and be able to go for their next tour.
I love circus, acrobatic acts, animals doing stunts, etc
I love all of that....

Though Cirque Du Soleil is far more beautifully crafted and definitely does not have any 'animal smells' *giggle*, my desire to see acrobatic acts will definitely be satisfied to the fullest. *thumbs up*

Many years later, my wait is over. They came back to Singapore with another act called Saltimbanco by Cirque Du Soleli and I can finally afford to bring my family to watch it. Nope, I did not pay for the highest price tickets. Financially, I am not there yet; to spend that much on an entertainment that does not exceed 2 hours. However it is a great booster for me to do even better for my family's financial well-being.

To make it more fun, my sister and my brother-in-law are coming along too! I did not expect them to say yes at first. I didn't think they would be interested in this in the first place. *Ooops!*
I believe one day, I would be able to give them a treat to such event too. So for this round, they paid for their own tickets.
To me, such an event is a great place to experience it with my closest ties, so I was overwhelmed when my sister and brother-in-law are willing to come along. *smile*

It was stated in the SISTIC tickets that "Photography, video and audio recording is not allowed for this event." Thank goodness some of the more famous acts are posted all over YouTube, so if I ever feel like watching it again after the show, to relive those moments, I can.

Here's a sneak peak of what to expect at the show:

Watching it on the screen and EXPERIENCING it there and then, is a TOTALLY different thing!
I am all excited!
I think I am the ONLY one who is counting down to next Friday, just like a kid counting down to school holidays. *laugh*

Saltimbanco by Cirque Du Soleil Singapore, we are coming!

London 2012 Olympics

I am far from being athletic, though back in my Secondary school times, I had won a mini-trophy for long distance run.
Although I seldom workout but I sure love to watch the Olympics!

My favourite event has to be the Women's Artistic Gymnastics which will be on Sunday 29th July 2012!
Whoo-hoo!
What's yours?

On top of that, I wonder if I would be able to see this cute, pretty and smiley girl in the 100m hurdles run in the London 2012 Olympics too?

Look at how relaxed she looked after the run!
Her DANCING warm-up definitely worked (for her) for sure!

American Idol Season 11 - Who Left Top 9?

I'm apologise to all his fans.
But I was jumping with joy the moment Ryan Seacrest said HeeJun Han was heading home.

FINALLY!!!
To me, this should have happened last week.

Anyhow, no doubt, he does have talent big enough to bring him this far into the competition. So with all due respect, here's his last performance on the stage.

鴨子 ~ 高伊玲 《世界正美丽》

Being someone who prefers boys more than girls, it is rather rare that I would fall deeply in love with any girl.
No, don't get me wrong.
I am not talking about intimate or sexual kind of love.

Just pure admiration and awe.

However, ever since I watched 《世界正美丽》 a couple of years back, I fell in love with 高伊玲, aka 鴨子.

I love her features, her straightforwardness, her courage, her friendliness, etc. She is so amiable! *grin*

If I ever have a daughter, I would love my daughter to have all of her qualities.

Yesterday, the show was put to a halt because of the movie 風雲 (雄霸天下), was sad at first, then realised that 《世界正美丽》 will resume next Sunday at 10.45pm, I am all smiles again. *Smile*

Too bad, her blog http://alexiaya.pixnet.net/blog is in Chinese, or else I would be her blog's faithful reader. *laugh*

American Idol Season 11 Top 13

I still miss Simon Cowell in American Idol.
This year, all three judges seemed to be on the same side for every contestants.
Thank goodness they get to feature Jimmy's opinions during results day. I have to say, I am 99% with Jimmy's views about the contestants.

Just like Jimmy, I am surprised at the compliments and even the standing ovation from the judges given to some of the contestants during the sing-off, for both the guys and the gals.
Some of them just did not sound right and some performances were really cheesy too.

Then again, who am I to judge?
Hhhmmm....

Ok, so the American Idol Season 11 Top 13 includes:

  1. Hollie Cavanagh,
  2. Colton Dixon,
  3. Heejun Han,
  4. Jermaine Jones,
  5. Skylar Laine,
  6. Joshua Ledet,
  7. Shannon Magrane,
  8. Phillip Phillips,
  9. Jessica Sanche,
  10. Elise Testone,
  11. Jeremy Rosado
  12. Ericka Van Pelt
  13. Deandre Brackensick
So who am I hoping to LEAVE on the next episode of American Idol?
DeAndre Brackensick

I just cannot stand his seemingly endless tossing of his hair. He needs to get off the screen or get rid of that habit. Its just NOT a star quality.

I saw him tossing his hair 8 TIMES in that short video. *eyes widened*
=======================

Well, and the ones I hope will stay on for a long long time includes:
  1. Hollie Cavanagh,
  2. Colton Dixon,
  3. Skylar Laine,
  4. Shannon Magrane,
  5. Jessica Sanche,
  6. Elise Testone,
  7. Jeremy Rosado
  8. Ericka Van Pelt
What's your pick?

Is My Name That Difficult to Pronounce?!!!

My name is Angeline.
Is it that difficult to pronounce?
Is it that difficult to remember?
Its pronounced as 'An-Jer-Lin'

A short phone call of less than 2 mins and you have called me AngeliNA 5 times!

J.D. from M.Cham. called.(I think its probably not right to say the full name out. Both the name of the staff and the company. However, I need to remember who I was talking about in my blog, afterall, my blog is like my diary..., so I put in the 'short form') He did Not call today but sometime ago.
Just that this was in my draft box. So today, I decide to complete where I left off....

Be it if you are a sales person or a telemarketer,
even if you are just a human being who is talking to another,
I think it is basic courtesy to try to remember the person's name whom you are talking to.

As for me, who is very bad with remembering names.
I will choose NOT to mention the name, lest I called out the wrong name and embarrass myself.
Most importantly, I think it will be disrespectful to the person whom I am talking to.

The most number of 'wrong name-calling' I can accept is 3.
Anything more than that, I'm sorry, I think its way too extreme.
It just shows me that you simply couldn't be bothered.
If that is your attitude, then I think its very sad.
Furthermore, in such a short call, you actually called my name wrongly 5 times!

"Hi, may I speak to AngeliNa?"
"This is Angeline."

"Yes, AngeliNA, I am J.D. from M.Cham. and I would like to invite you to come to M.Cham. on this Sunday, will you be free?"
"My name is Angeline. I will not be free this Sunday."

"so AngeliNA, which..." (I interrupted. I know its rude to interrupt when someone is talking, but this time, I just want to make sure that he is actually talking to the right person.)
"DEAR! My name is Angeline! NOT AngeliNA!"

"But its written here. It says AngeliNA Foong."
"Then you have probably called the wrong number."

"But AngeliNA, your surname is Foong right? And your number is 9#######, correct?"
"My name is ANGELINE! By the way, how did you get my number?"

"You came to one of our events and you left your details with us."
"No, I have never been to your events. I think you probably get the wrong person."

"But the Name and Number is correct and you have kids right?"
"Yes, I have kids."

"Nevermind, so AngeliNA are you able to come next Sunday?"
"My name is ANGELINE! Please get it right. No, I am not interested (even if I am, I'm sorry, I'm already pissed off by you!) and will not be free on ANY SUNDAYS. Anything else?"

"Ok, then, thank you."
Pressed 'End Call' button.

My name is ANGELINE!!!
Is it that difficult to pronounce?????!!!

American Idol Finale - Performance

Finally!!!
This season which consists of the most talents on the same stage ever has come down to this!

American Idol Top 3 - Performance and Results

Somehow without James Durbin, I lost interest in this year's American Idol. Neither Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina made me swayed or danced or even clapped at the end of their 9 performances, 3 performances each.

However, because I love Country Music more than Rock or Pop, I found myself singing to Lonestar's "Amazed." and "She Believes In Me" by Kenny Rogers performed by Scotty.

And the results?
Who got eliminated?
Which two would we see in the grand finale?
Watch it to find out.

Yes.
So its a girl and a boy in the grand finale, which makes it more 'balanced' in a way, isn't?

Well,
Somehow I saw it coming, more or less, when I watched the return home visits.
Looking at the number of crowd, which was there to welcome each of them, it seemed pretty obvious which two had more fans.

So its goodbye Haley Reinhart.

American Idol Season 10 Top 4 results - James Durbin

Unbelievable!
I do not remember seeing James Durbin in bottom three before.
And he was sent home tonight?!
How could it be???!!!!

Especially when he totally owns the stage in last night's performance.
I see no reason why he garnered the least votes!
My hubby said, "Its 'hei-an de'"

Well, maybe.
But its so cruel to one who is obviously so much more talented and outstanding than his other competitors.
*shake head*

So Goodbye James....
I believe the end of American Idol journey is the beginning of a singing career for you. Trust that you will be as good a performer thereafter as you are a Dad.

Cheers!

American Idol Season 10 Top 4 performance

*Scream* Tonight's show was so exciting!
Of cos' to see Lady Gaga mentoring the Top 4 adds so much more entertainment to the show. *wink*

This was my choice for tonight, in this order, from favourite, to least favourite.

I think James Durbin hit bull's eye today with both songs. He is truly In It To Win It! *clap clap clap*
Among the two songs fantastically sung, I preferred the second song "Love Portion", this is one of my all time favourites! I couldn't help but move to the song. *smile*

To hear Haley Reinhart sing my idol's song Michael Jackson's "Earth Song" moved me. I totally disagree with Randy Jackson's comments on her bad singing. Still, like James, I prefer her second performance more. Unknowingly, I found myself opening up my mouth as big as hers every time she sang those big notes. *laugh* I think there's a lot to do with Lady Gaga's mentoring. *Double Laugh*

Scotty McCreery on the other hand gave a better performance, in my opinion, with his first song "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)". His second song gave me too much goosebumps with his so-called sense of humour! *eyes rolled*

And sweetie Lauren Alaina, I gave her thumbs up for her vocals in the first song, but super thumbs up for her performance and confidence in her second. Hhhhmmm... so which video should I post then? I think I would rather go for performance.

So there goes my guess for the bottom two: Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.
*fingers crossed*

American Idol Season 10 Top 5 results - Jacob Lusk

So it was Goodbye to Jacob Lusk when the results were announced for the Top 5 in American Idol.

I'm sorry, but did you have goosebumps when Jacob moved to the song "No Air" on Thursday night? I did. It felt awkward to see, but a-o-k to listen.

Still, I enjoyed the result show very much because they combined my other favourite show on Star World channel with American Idol ~ Masterchief! *laugh*

It was so funny when Gordon Ramsey commented on the Top 5's omelet! *huge laugh*

American Idol Season 10 Top 5 performance

I love tonight's performance on American Idol soooooooooooooooooo much!!!

Top 5 performances were awesome!
I am so happy that they could sing 2 songs each tonight, because some of them (in my view) did not do well in the first song, like Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk.

I was amazed at how confident Lauren Alaina performed tonight. A very different side of her and I liked it!

All in all, I think James Durbin and Scotty McCreery did both songs justice.

But the one song which stunned me was the closing song of the night from Haley Reinhart. Her second song of the night:
House Of The Rising Sun from Animals

American Idol Season 10 Top 7 results - Stefano Langone

I must say I was happy with the result last night.
Yes, his cute face definitely caught my eye when I first saw him at the audition, but after so many rounds, I find him very cheesy when he sings. In fact, he is the ONLY contestant in this season that has the capability of making me lift my butt off the sofa when he's singing.
I'm sorry Stefano, still a cute guy to look at for sure! *smile*

Battle of the six remained in American Idol next week:
The beard guy - Casey Abrams
The growl queen - Haley Reinhart
The soulful man - Jacob Lusk
The heavy metal fanatic - James Durbin
The sweetie pie - Lauren Alaina
and
The low-pitch vocalist - Scotty McCreery

Movie Event Of The Year : Michael Jackson's This Is It

I love MJ since young. Since I knew his songs, I loved him.
And tomorrow night, 17th April 2011, nothing is going get me off my sofa between 7.15pm to 9.30pm.
Singapore MediaCorp Channel 5 will be showing Movie Event Of The Year: Michael Jackson's This Is It.

And because we have met this week with my in-laws yesterday already, so Sunday we will not be going over again. Whoo-Hoo! My eyes will be glued on the TV with no or little disturbance, since my whole family are MJ fans.... *smile*

American Idol Season 10 Top 8 results - Paul McDonald

As much as I love him, his voice and his style, America thinks otherwise. Maybe his too-nice-guy image doesn't capture too much attention, I think...

Anyhow, all the best Paul McDonald!

s

American Idol Season 10 Top 8 performance

Though I like James Durbin, I did not enjoy his performance yesterday. I am not one who knows how to appreciated Heavy Metal. I'm sorry.

Surprisingly, two of my least-liked contestants actually kept me on my seat when they sang, Jacob Lusk and Scotty Mccreery.

American Idol Season 10 Top 9 elimination - Pia Toscano

No doubt she has the best vocals in American Idol Season 10.
No doubt she gives goose bumps to her listeners whenever she sings ballads.
But I think America did not give her enough votes to let her stay is because of her lack of showmanship.

I saw lots of angry comments all over the internet about how wrong it was for her to leave the competition at this stage. Then again, I believe with her talent and amazing voice, producers will start signing her up even though she lost the chance of getting crowned American Idol season 10.

In celebration of her great singing, here's some of my favourite performances from her and "All By Myself" (to me) was her best of best.

Good Luck Pia!

American Idol Season 10 Top 9 performance

Today is not as exciting as I wish it could be.
James Durbin suddenly gone slow. I must say, I didn't quite like it. I can't help but compare him with Adam Lambert. The latter can really go on an up tempo and real slow like his 'Mad World' performance. So for James, it was a little disappointing for me.

Another one who made me feel really awkward watching was Pia Toscano with her Tina Turner song. Hey! Tina is such an amazing performer, especially when she sang that song 'River Deep Mountain High'. She was rocking the entire place. But Pia HARDLY MOVED HER HIPS!!!
Its so good to listen to her voice when she sang it, but to watch her perform, hhhmmmm... I gave her two thumbs down. I wonder if she is going to go home tomorrow.

So if I really want to squeeze out my favourite performance?
I'll go for Paul McDonald, even though I think it was a wrong song choice....

American Idol Season 10 Top 9 Results

Last week because the judges used the wild card to save Casey Abrams, this week, two contestants will go home. Well, Casey gained the liking of the audience and was safe from being in the bottom 3.

So who?

I was shocked to see one of my favourite, Paul McDonald in the bottom 3 this week. *pout* But what a big relief when he was sent back to the coauch! *phew*

Goodbye was hence said to Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo.
Well, I can't say that they deserve to go, but that the rest should stay in the competition...
So good luck girls!

And my favourite performance of the night on this week's American Idol Season 10 has to be from the Fiery James Durbin:
