My Birthday Celebration 2011

Now who said that birthday celebrations are meant for the kids?
I had the best birthday celebration (yet) this year!

For the very first time, it was celebrated overseas!
It has been a long time since my family, my bride-to-be sister, my hubby and my two boys had a day trip together; and overseas? First time definitely! I am so thankful that my birthday fell on a Saturday this year, or else my sister would not be able to join in already. *hugs*
What makes it even more special is a good friend, who hardly comes back to Singapore, came back on my birthday month! *super hugs*
Another surprise came when an old friend whom I have known for 23 years gave me a special birthday treat! Yum! *triple hugs*

In my family, birthdays celebrations starts at midnight, the very first minute of the day, with cake cutting 'ceremony'. *wink*

The wordings were chosen by my elder son. Made me feel like Mother's Day celebration cum Birthday Celebration. *Grin*

We set off to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, after my boys' morning swimming lesson. I am impressed by their stamina that day.

I dare say I am addicted to having day trips in JB.
Things are so much more worthwhile for us Singaporeans.
I am making a conscious effort Not to say 'Things are So Cheap in Malaysia' anymore, ever since a close Malaysian friend of mine 'berated' me (in a soft way), "The price of things in Malaysia has never rose so much, it only started when more and more Singaporeans started going there and say "So Cheap! So Cheap!"..."
Ooops! High possibility I think.

Its not only worthwhile in terms of price, but I love the genuine smiles whenever I am served and not forgetting the good food too. The same restaurant in Singapore and in Malaysia actually had different standards.
A little disappointing for Singapore.
Somehow I feel that the chefs in Malaysia seemed to cook from their heart, while the chefs in Singapore probably cook because they needed the salary.

Take this restaurant for an example: Wong Kok Char Chan Teng
All the food served onto our table were REALLY nice! Every one of them.
Of course, the best part is.... I get a HUMONGOUS GLASS of Milk Tea for FREE, because it was my Birthday!

ITS BIGGER THAN MY ELDER SON'S HEAD!!!

Oh please!
Its just for photo-taking purposes.
No way are we going to drink directly from THAT!
We prefered to drink from the NORMAL PLASTIC GLASSES provided.

Thank you Dearie for the 'hard' work serving us. *giggle*

The restaurant even played the 'Happy Birthday Song' for me, while the waiter walked towards me securing the GIGANTIC GLASS with two hands!

There were so many people celebrating their birthdays that day. During our 1hour plus dining experience, the Birthday song was played 6 times, including mine! *wink*

Here are the conditions:
  • Minimum spending RM30
  • Must present IC as proof (yes, they accept Singapore IC too! *phew*)
  • Valid through 3 days before and after Birthday

Will do a 'proper' blog post on my review of Wong Kok Char Chan Teng restaurant in a separate post. There are just too much Good things to say about them. *Grin*

Next,
its Shopping time!
We went City Square for the second time this year, after the KTM train ride in May 2011, before the Tanjong Pagar KTM train station closed. The children bought more Angry Birds and my younger one bought his first collection of Plants vs Zombies plush toy! *faint*
Yes, they bought with their own money!
And I bought more pinky rings again this time!

We had been exploring different shopping malls, at different places, on each of our visit to Johor Bahru, over the past 3 months. This time, we went to Tesco at Seri Alam. Bought lots of Groceries, as usual... *Thumbs Up*

If you ever wonder how to pass time, stay happy! *laugh*
'Cos happy times pass soooooooooooooooo fast!

With that comes Yummy Time!

We are trying out yet another new seafood restaurant. So far we have gone to two, first was Restoran Todak. I have yet to blog about the second seafood restaurant, which belonged to my friend's friend.
Now, this is the third seafood restaurant we have visited in Johor Bahru! One that is highly recommended in forums too:
Restoran Tian Lai

There are so much to write about Restoran Tian Lai too!
Don't think I want to cramp everything here and make this birthday post a million-word long post. *laugh*
So will do a separate post again for this.

Ok ok, I know I know, lots of yet-to-blog posts lining up.
There are already 8 drafts on the list now...
Will get it done....
in time to come...
*fingers crossed*
Still trying to juggle time with everything on hand and 'forcing myself' to have 2 hours of entertainment time each day or else I will go bonkers!

After dinner we headed home without any issue.
If you are thinking what kind of issue there could be, well, we were lost on our very first drive in to Johor Bahru and we were lost in a totally pitch dark place. Check out this blog post "Anniventure" if you want to know how scary it was.
*Thumbs Up* to Hubby's great driving skills again.

Before I end this birthday post, it is only right that I thank my present-givers by 'showing off' my presents. *Grin*

Presents received this year:
From my friend in Australia

From Dearie

From Dearie

From my closest group of girlfriends in Secondary School

From Keatkeat and Dearie

From Philips

From Dearie

From my dearest friend, whom I have known for 21years
From Myself! *laugh*

Song Sharing Sunday - 140 [Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart - Marc Almond and Gene Pitney]

Though Marc Almond is more famous for his 'Tainted Love', today I am sharing this other song of his 'Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart'.

WHY?

Simply because something's gotten hold of my heart yesterday.
I was showered with love from everywhere.
A deep sense of gratefulness gotten hold of my heart.
ITS AWESOME TO BE ALIVE!

Its funny how others used to tell me that Birthday Celebrations are only for the children and youngsters. It was my 34th birthday yesterday and I had a blast!
Blasted with well wishes from friends and loved ones all over the world through Facebook, emails and smses.
Blasted with lots of presents too!
Blasted with a gigantic cup of Milk Tea that was bigger than my 7 year old boy's head. (will do a separate post on that)
Blasted with lots of 'Happy Birthday Songs' while I ate my lunch.
Blasted with backaches after a whole day of shopping and eating in Malaysia.

Yes, blasted in every way possible! *huge laugh*

Thank you Everyone for the beautiful wishes... I had one of the best birthdays yet!
CHEERS!

Marc Almond and Gene Pitney - Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart

Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart ~ Marc Almond and Gene Pitney

Something's gotten hold of my heart
Keeping my soul and my senses apart
Something's gotten into my life
Cutting its way through my dreams like a knife
Turning me up, turning me down
Making me smile, making me frown

In a world that was war
I once lived in a time
That was peace
With no trouble at all
But then you came my way
And a feeling i know
Shook my heart
And made me want you to stay
All of my nights
And all of my days

I wanna tell you now
Something's gotten hold of my hand
Dragging my soul to a beautiful land
Something's invaded my night
Painting my sleep with a colour so bright
Changing the grey, changing the blue
Scarlet for me, scarlet for you

I've got to know if this is the real thing
I've got to know what's making my heart sing, oh yeah
A smile and i am lost for a lifetime
Each minute spent with you is the right time
Every hour (yeah) every day (yeah)
You touch me and my mind goes astray
And baby yeah, and baby yeah

Something's gotten hold of my hand
Dragging my soul to a beautiful land
Something's gotten into my life
Cutting its way through my dreams like a knife
Turning me up, turning me down
Making me smile, making me frown

In a world that was war
I once lived in a time
That was peace
With no trouble at all

But then you, you, you
Came my way

And a feeling i know
Shook my heart
And made me want you to stay
All of my nights
And all of my days

Something's gotten hold of my heart
Keeping my soul and my senses apart
Something's invaded my night
Painting my sleep with a colour so bright
Changing the grey, changing the blue
Scarlet for me, scarlet for you

What to Give to your Wedding Guests?

My sister's wedding is nearing and the excitement is definitely mounting. She is now at the preparation stage of printing the wedding invitations and this definitely reminded me of my wedding invitation card, which Allan and I really loved.

Though the amount we paid for our banquet dinner at the hotel has already included the cost of the wedding favors to our guest at the wedding dinner, we wished we had the budget back then to get our own customized wedding favors from those printing companies, which specialized in promotional products. In the end, a big surprise came when the company which I worked for back then sponsored our wedding favors. We gave our guests a pair of wooden chopsticks, with a wooden chopstick rest and a small tag saying ‘Thank You’.

After attending so many weddings and received so many different wedding favors, my favourite has to be the special gift received at my friend’s wedding many years ago. I remembered receiving premium chocolates beautifully wrapped in golden wrappings and they were placed in a red trishaw or more commonly known as rickshaws with a big double 喜 in front, which is an auspicious word for Chinese wedding. Then again, such beauty comes with a price and my friend said he ordered it from a Hong Kong supplier.

Did you customized your wedding favors too?

Breast Slapping for Breast Enhancement

Alright, plastic surgery is probably the most famous way to enhance a woman's breast, yet because of the price, many small boobs ladies choose to go for other methods.

Then came the breast-cookie in Taiwan which claimed that it will increase one's breast size significantly after eating a number of cookies.

Now this is really new (to me), in Thailand, there is this woman who Slaps Up Your Breast!
Pictures worth a thousand words, I think videos worth a zillion words.
Check this out!

Would you try it? *eyebrows raised*

Song Sharing Sunday - 139 [Michael Martin Murphy - What's Forever For]

Over the years I have come to this realisation that what you lack is actually what you have not been giving enough of.
If you want to hear more "I love you" from your loved one, have you said "I love you" frequently to him/her in the first place?

Do you have a broken relationship?
Have you looked at yourself, before putting the blame on your partner?

Song Sharing Sunday - 138 [Avril Lavigne - Wish You Were Here]

The title of this song has another meaning for me.
Wish You Were Here, 'School Re-Open'.
This one week of School Holiday is killing me!
Tonnes of school work to complete and at the same time to balance play with work...
I really need a break!
I am waiting for school days to resume on Monday.
Come quick!

Avril Lavigne - Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here Lyrics ~ Avril Lavigne

I can be tough, I can be strong
But with you, it's not like that at all
There's a girl that gives a shit
Behind this wall, you just walk through it

And I remember all those crazy things you said
You left them running though my head
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

All those crazy things we did
Didn't think about it, just went with it
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you here, here, here
I wish you were here
Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you near, near, near
I wish you were here

I love the way you are
It's who I am, don't have to try hard
We always say, say it like it is
And the truth is that I really miss

All those crazy things you said
You left them running though my head
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

All those crazy things we did
Didn't think about it, just went with it
You're always there, you're everywhere
But right now I wish you were here

Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you here, here, here
I wish you were here
Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you near, near, near
I wish you were here

No, I don't wanna let go, I just wanna let you know
That I never wanna let go, let go, oh, oh
No, I don't wanna let go, I just wanna let you know
That I never wanna let go, let go, let go, let go
Let go, let go, let go, let go, let go, let go
Let go, let go, let go

Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you here, here, here
I wish you were here
Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you near, near, near
I wish you were here

Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you here, here, here
I wish you were here
Damn, damn, damn
What I'd do to have you near, near, near
I wish you were here

Song Sharing Sunday - 137 [Leona Lewis / Avicii - Collide ]

Maybe because of Simon Cowell. Maybe because of Bleeding Love. Or maybe simply because of her amazing voice, I love Leona Lewis!!!!
Song Sharing Sunday Badge

Leona Lewis / Avicii - Collide

Collide Lyrics ~ Leona Lewis

i’ll pick you up when you’re down
be there when no one’s around
when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

i’m in tune with how you feel
everything bout this is real
when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

you’re all i want, yeah yeah
i know you’re the one, yeah
you’re all i want, yeah
i know you’re the one, yeah

crash into me
at full speed
crash into me
we can collide, we can collide

crash into me
at full speed
we can collide, we can collide
we can collide, we can collide

when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

know that you’re never alone
in me you can find a home
when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

you’re all i want, yeah (yeah)
you’re all i want (oh), yeah (yeah yeah)
you’re all i want, yeah (you are the one)
i know you’re the one, yeah (you are)

crash into me
at full speed
we can collide, we can collide
we can collide, we can collide

crash into me
we can collide, we can collide
we can collide, we can collide
