I Love To Do Repair Work!

Sometimes I feel more like a boy than a girl.
Since young, I find talking to males easier than females. Conversations are more straight to the point and....hhhhmmmm..... just simpler.

Since very young.
As soon as I know how to handle the tools in a toolbox correctly, my father had been teaching and asking me to do different types of repair work. Therefore, when I was still in Primary school, I already know how to fix and dismantle a standing fan, a lamp, a power plug, etc.

Maybe because I was trained to think "When things are not right, repair needs to be done" since young, I am very much of a handyman handywoman wherever I go. I repair my classmate's mechanical pencils, fix their pencil box, etc.

And my father always says: "One Stitch Saves Nine. Don't Wait."

This mindset has stuck in my head for the longest time!
Thus when I saw the condition of my floor after the acid cleaning done by my male renovation coordinator, I was determined to do something about it......eventually.

Read the section with the heading of "27th December 2012" in the post "Progress of New House-Update 4" to know the story of my floor.

Ok, so as a result of what my male renovation coordinator did, some of the acid ate up the cement between the tiles, leaving crack lines and mini-holes in the cement between each tile.

I wanted to fix it.
To get it back to its smooth white look.

However, after moving in, there were lots of 'getting used to' that needs more immediate attention and soon, the urgency of fixing the crack lines and mini-holes was shelved.

Almost 8 months had passed and those crack lines and mini-holes start to accumulate dirt and dust, so much so that its greyish and blackish at some spots. It annoys me.
*laugh* You must be wondering if my head is hung low each time I walked around the house! Errrmmm.... more or less! *huge laugh*

When something like this annoys me, its an eyesore and I will keep focusing on it till its fixed!!!

As a believer of Law of Attraction, I kept thinking of a product I once saw in Pasar Malam (Night market). Its a bottle/tube-like thing that contains liquid cement. I remembered the demonstration. It was so easy to apply. So I had been looking out for 'him' at Pasar Malam lately.

Believe it or not!
I happened to SEE that GUY who sold this LIQUID CEMENT thing AGAIN!
I was overjoyed!!!!

Bought from him immediately and planned to work on my floor on the next weekday when my kids are in school. Its tough to do such things at home with two active kids.

Thus, since Monday, I started TRYING out the product at a corner of my house.

I did not want to go full force at first go because I wanted to see the after-effect first.
It was ok.
I would not say 'fantastic' though, because of the nature of my floor tiles.
The product is Good, its my floor tiles that were imperfect.

Some tiles have rounded sides, therefore the gap between each tile is easy to fill up because its like a drain.
However, my floor tiles does NOT have rounded sides. It is a 90 degrees bend.
Though the tiles were machine-made, no two tiles are uniform in thickness.
In fact, every SINGLE PIECE of tile had different thickness from the left side of the tile to its right side.
*shake head*

Hence when we put two pieces of tiles together, the gap between them is uneven, making it VERY DIFFICULT for me to even out the liquid-cement.

*sigh*
We already had so much 'trouble' looking for floor tiles in the beginning stage of the renovation, read post "Progress of New House - Update 2", yet after finalizing the floor tile, problem of another sort still exist.
Oh well, it was our choice and ignorance.

Next time I will choose floor tiles with rounded sides for my next house!
Humph!

Yesterday I inspected the gap of that few tiles which I mended on Monday.
Hhhhmmmm.....satisfactory.
After two days, no cracks whatsoever.
*thumbs up*

Immediately, I took out my 'new toy' and get it to work again on another small part of my living room.

Today, 22nd August, I was in a 'labouring mood'!
And I spent my whole morning doing the entire living room!

Now, I am waiting for the 5hours of rest-dry-and-set period to be over before I start the tedious cleaning of the sides of the tiles : the 'over-spilled' area.
It is tedious because I had to be very careful at all times NOT to accidentally wipe the cement in the gap, or else, I'll have to start again.

Still Drying.
Wiping of over-spilled area are not done yet.

Virgo is not my horoscope but Sometimes, I'm a perfectionist.
Such meticulous work, I choose to do it myself even though I could always call up my renovation coordinator to get the floor contractor to do it for me.

I had backache after spending a few hours on this.
But guess what?!
I am so happy that I am finally fulfilling yet another simple wish of mine!
One word - Satisfaction!
*Super Grin*

So while the liquid cement fills up the crack lines and mini-holes and taking its own sweet time to dry, I am here with my fingers dancing on the keyboard.

Even after the cleaning work that follows after this, [there goes my afternoon! *Jaws Dropped*] the task is still not completed yet. 3 more rooms to go. *Taking a Long Deep Breath*

So this would be my assignment for the week, I guess.
Its good to be occupied because staying still and doing nothing is just SO-NOT-ME!
Ooops!
Unless I'm sleepy!
Then lying on my bed and doing nothing will be my favourite thing to do.
*laugh*

Every small wish fulfilled is a big boost to self-esteem!
Cheers!

Officially a HappyCall Owner now!

Ohhhhhhhhh yes!
I am officially a HappyCall Owner now!
Whoo-hoo!
*clap clap clap*

All thanks to my 2nd BIL and SIL.
*Super Duper Hugs*

Last month, they asked me what would I like to have as a house warming gift. I struggled long and hard before I told them "HappyCall!"

I wanted the HappyCall Jumbo Grill double pan, the deep frying pan and the pots!
Yes, I wanted almost the entire range of HappyCall products!
My ex-neighbour highly recommended it before I moved out of my previous house.
Thus, ever since that day, I made a pact with myself that I want to be a proud HappyCall owner after I moved into my new house.

I know it would cost alot to get the full range and so we went to check out each individual item and their price to calculate the total cost.
After digging deeper, only did we realised that we did not need every item.

My 2nd BIL and SIL were going to Korea and thought it would be a great opportunity to buy HappyCall for me over there, knowing that its cheaper too.

I did not want my 2nd BIL and SIL to spend too much, so I told them to buy just ONE from MY  HappyCall product list as a house warming gift.

Instead, they bought every item listed by me!
Aaaaawwww...... so touched!!!!
*hugs*

When they were in Korea, they managed to find the HappyCall Jumbo Grill double pan only, so the deep frying pan and pots were bought in Singapore.

 I am soooooooooooo happy!!!
*jumping up and down and dancing all around*

My only concern now is the instruction booklet that comes along with the HappyCall Jumbo Grill double pan.
As its from Korea, the entire instruction booklet is in Korean!
*faint*

Now I need to find someone who knows how to read Korean OR find someone who also bought the HappyCall Jumbo Grill Pan from Singapore, so that I can 'copy' the English version of the booklet.

HELP!
Anyone?!

Especially the following 3 pages:~

Thank you 2nd BIL and SIL for such a BIG house warming gift!
Your gesture warms my heart so much!
*Super Bear Hugs*

My Birthday 2012

1st of October marks the beginning of a SUPER EXCITING MONTH and at the same time it ends the birthday celebration month for me.

Here's a small recap of what I did for my birthday this year 2012.
Few words, more photos. because I am too busy this month for long posts.

Had Dinner with my Sis and BIL at Zafferano
Check out my Zafferano blog post here "Zafferano - Restaurant at Level 43"

Also had a dinner celebration on another day at The Soup Restaurant at Vivo City with J., XY., and P.L.
Their presents for me:

Yeah! Heard a lot about this product and had always wanted to try. But I think to pay 'that' amount for 'trying' purpose was way too much for me. So thank you girls (including B.L. who did not attend the dinner due to poor health) for making my wish come true.

A Surprise Gift from the girls too! Lovely bag for me to use during wedding dinners! Yeah! *clap clap clap*

My Birthday Cake!

Yum!

A Birthday Card from my lovely insurance representative! What a surprise! I cannot even remember when was the last time I received a Birthday Card.... Thank you, thank you.....

On my birthday itself, the four of us went to KISEKI Japanese Buffet Restaurant for a truly sumptuous and enjoyable dinner!

Here's one without the 'Calefares'! *laugh*

That satisfied look! *laugh*

But the THING that made me leapt was THIS!!!!
Present from hubby!
Seen so much, read so much, finally can use so much!
*laugh*

With that, ends my birthday celebration for this year.

Thank you EVERYONE who put a smile on my face!

We Found Our House On First Day of House-Hunting!

Amazing!
Everything is going as we had planned!
Many said our plan was unrealistic.
I told them that NOTHING is impossible.

Hundreds of years ago
Who would think that they can fly in the air?!
But look at what we have now,
Planes of all sorts are zooming through the clouds.

Hubby and I are very simple people
And over the years of managing our retail business
We have changed.
We have learned to become decisive.
We have learned that when an opportunity comes, we grab.
We have learned that every second count and procrastination is not an option.

So what did we plan?

Back in November 2011...
We planned to sell our house by December ~ late by one month: Sold in January
We planned to finalise a rental unit by February ~ we did: thank you to the wonderful ladies
We planned to get a confirmation on the bank loan by May ~ we achieved.
We planned to find a house by June ~ we found a house TODAY, 20th May 2012!!!!
We planned to complete the transaction by October ~ the seller MUST complete by 9th October!
We planned to do renovation in November ~ achievable now!
We planned to move from our rental unit to our NEW house during December school holidays ~ achievable now!

Hip Hip Hooray!
LOA indeed!

Hubby and I were still a little upset that we could not start our house hunting yesterday, Saturday, because I had a course to attend to in the afternoon, which clashes with the house-viewing timings.

Hubby, being in the property line, knows all the right steps and did all the due diligence.
We were all geared up to find our house today.
6 houses to view
and we FOUND IT!

We found our house on first day of house-hunting!
Amazing!

It was so clean and neat and sparkling!
No joke
Not exaggerating
the floor tiles and the wall tiles of the kitchen were really sparkling clean!
Sad to say,
we have our own ideas of what our house should look like already; even before we sold our old house!
*laugh*

So everything has to go.
Nothing will be kept.

We are so excited about everything that is to come and will come for the rest of 2012!
My heart is dancing, I think its doing tap-dance!
Its so loud!
*laugh*

PotLuck Dinner with Neighbours

Never did I expect myself to end Year 2011 with a wonderful Potluck Dinner with my neighbours.
The oldest in our group is almost 60 years old and the youngest is 6 years old, which is my younger son. Though the age gap was huge, but things that made everyone happy, laughed, smiled were the same. No generation gap whatsoever!

We simply love each other's company. Like I have said in my previous post, when one of my neighbours suggested the Potluck Dinner, it made me feel like a farewell dinner for us; even though no papers had been signed yet. Interested buyers for my house are still waiting for the replies from banks and HDB, to find out if their loan would be approved.

The party started at 7pm and ended at 10pm!
Three hours of laughter, smiles and yum!
I am so happy with the way my Year 2011 ended.
Hooray!
*clap clap clap*

Just take a look at the glorious food laid out at the corridor....

I supplied ALL the Tables with table-cloths, 3 Big and 1 Small.

Sale of Balance Flats Exercise September 2011

Will we be the lucky ones?

I have been waiting for the day to move out of this house of mixed memories for years..... memories that can easily tip me off balance and land me in anger land or memories which would leave me in tears....
A place which I have stayed for more than 32 years...
No matter how much it holds, I want to be out of here...
For so many years, we could not move out because of financial situation, now that we could squeeze out a little, we went ahead with the application for the September 2011 Sale of Balance Flats Exercise.

The purpose is not to change to a bigger flat, but really, simply, purely to leave these four walls for good...

Will we be the lucky ones?

My Dream Camera Phone

Why didn't this come to Singapore?!
It was launched in London during September 2008!
So stylish!
My Dream Camera Phone for sure!
