Lose Weight? No Fruit Juice Please

Tip for today :
If you need to lose weight, opt for juices made from vegetables such as carrots rather than from fruits with a high sugar content.

Vietnam Pho in Johor Bahru

Since our visit to Vietnam, almost a year ago, we had missed Vietnam Pho till this day.
Yet, our cravings were somewhat satisfied when we chance upon Ana Vietnam Cafe in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The cafe is located OPPOSITE THE STORE at Taman Sentosa. The shop is facing the entrance which leads to the multi-storey carpark of THE STORE.

This is run by a group of Vietnamese.
Thus they speak Vietnamese or Chinese with Vietnamese accent only, no English please.
First experience was really good.
The soup was really savoury and the meat was tender!
Each bowl cost RM10.

As it is their culture to eat lots of vegetables, my bowl of Vietnamese Beef Pho was almost completely covered with greens!
*laugh*

After that experience, I would request for ZERO vegetables on my bowl of pho.
This was how it looked like (without the vegetables) when we first discovered this place in October last year.

I have lost count how many times hubby and I went there for brunch after that first visit and were rather surprise that the taste and presentation differs slightly on each visit, as the chef is different every time.

Seriously, this place makes me feel like a family business, and their mentally makes me feel like they were cooking for family members, instead of running a business.

Whoever is free at that time, will do the cooking.

So if you are thinking of checking this place, do not expect restaurant type of service.
It really feels more homely.
Like how you would feel when your relative or mother cooks for you.

The photo below was taken before February 2014 ended.

Is the difference obvious?!
You bet!
And so is the taste too!

Somehow, no matter how different the tastes may change each time, it still feels CLOSER to the taste we remembered when we were in Ho Chin Minh city last year, as compared to the long-queued Vietnamese restaurants, which we had tried in Singapore.

We are so in loved with Vietnam Beef Pho that we even asked our good friend to bring some INSTANT ones back from Vietnam, whenever he comes back to Singapore.
*laugh*

Queuing for 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa at Clementi

I'm a pro in queuing for 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa now (Nah, not really!) , so I did not spend that much time in the queue anymore,  unlike my past experiences.....
so NO MORE 3 hours and 16mins for me! *laugh*
(read this post, if you want to know what happened during my 3hours and 16mins in 2012.)

Oh well, I have improved!

This year, I decided to start queuing BEFORE the stall opens for business.

Something which I had not tried in previous years.
I remembered the stall starts operating at 11am, but I reached there at 10.25am.
I went yesterday, 23rd January 2014, eight days before Chinese Lunar New Year.

Just like in previous years, the queue for 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa forms along the perimeter of the Clementi 448 Market and Food Centre (picture above).
People in queue gets to sit on the empty seats as the line moves.
However, I think there had been complains....

At 10.33am, the people of 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa told us to queue AWAY from the seats, hence my standing position towards the shop, which was flooded with red and yellow 'pineapples' decorations on the ceilling, changed from the picture above to the picture below.

I reached there at 10.25am and I was already the 16th person in queue.
I wonder what time did the FIRST person started standing infront of the stall.
Hhhmmm......10am? 9.45am? 9am???!!!

Oh well, my doting hubby wanted to go at 9am to queue on my behalf.
But I put a 'spell' on him and he was queuing in his dreamland when I sneaked out of the house alone.
*laugh*

I was prepared to wait till 11am before I could see the stall owner lifting up the metal door.
Surprisingly, my wait was shortened when the lights came on at 10.38am!
Hooray!!!
*clap clap clap*

Their Kaching Kaching moment for the day has started again!
Money and LOTS OF IT, falling into their pockets like rain!
Heavy Downpour!!!
*laugh*

At 10.57, I could clearly see the youngest staff (see the guy with red shorts on the right of the picture below) busy distributing big bags or boxes of yummy Bak Kwa (roasted pork slice) to customers who had placed BIG ORDERS on previous days.

By the way, the red bags and boxes filled with packets of Bak Kwa were on the floor, infront of his knees, on the shelf, as well as INside THE HALF CLOSED shop!!!!

Oh! Just in case you did not know, both shops (side by side) belong to them; during Chinese New Year period, you can see the staff taking things in and out from one of the two shops to another.

Names of customers and quantities ordered were written with markers on the red bags and boxes to identify which order belonged to which customer.

I did see some ridiculous numbers written on them.
I wonder if they were for the WHOLE COMPANY or the WHOLE department.
'cos I think I would be bleeding Bak Kwa juices after eating that much!!!
*jaws dropped*

At 11:07am, I am the 6th in queue!
Yeah!
*clap clap clap*

Thank goodness my runny nose was not running a marathon this morning, but more of 100metres dash every now and then.
Otherwise, I will not be able to smell the fragrance of the yummy Bak Kwa, which kept my tired and sick body awake.

Ooops!
The spotlight was too bright?!
Left $44 is the price for "MINCED TYPE" of Bak Kwa
Center $46 is the price for the popular "SLICED TYPE" of Bak Kwa
Right $48 is the price for the "CHILLI FLAVOURED TYPE" of Bak Kwa

I prefer the Minced Type because of my 'false tooth'.
Its thinner and softer, but less flavourful compared to the popular Sliced Type.
So I bought 500g for Minced Type just for myself. *wink*

I left the stall at 11:20am.
Total 55mins spent.
Pretty good, I would say!
*thumbs up*

The 5 packets of 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa were slung over my left arm, even when I was on the crowded bus..... on my way home.
I was surprised that 2.5kg of yummy Bak Kwa could make such deep red marks on my skin....

No Pain, No Gain????
*giggle*

Joe's Kitchen - Yummy Thai Food

Ever since we had stopped going to Thailand to get goods for our retail business more than 10 years ago, hubby and I had been missing that country. The people, the culture and more importantly the food.

There are so many places that sells Thai food in Singapore, but few ignite that all too familiar taste in our mouth. I guessed, food just taste different when it flew over oceans and lands to a foreign country. Even if the chef is a Thai, somehow that "Ooopm" feeling is just not there when the Thai chef is not cooking in Thailand.

Could it be the lack of some ingredients which are not found in foreign land?
Could it be the patrons' mind that is actually deceiving their own taste buds?
*shrugged*
I don't know.

However, we found a place opposite Queensway Shopping Centre.
A place which we had drove passed at least a hundred times (literally) but yet to step in to dine.
Joe's Kitchen is the name of the small but popular mini-restaurant in that neighbourhood; there are always people dining there, be it indoor or outdoor seating, whenever I passed by the restaurant,.

I vowed to try the Orange-Green-White Signboard Restaurant - Joe's Kitchen, before I stepped into the coffin. *laugh*
And we did on 10th November 2013.
It was a day whereby the kids had early dinner and the parents wanted a late dinner.
Therefore, our initial intention was to let the children sip on a can of drink while the adults fill their tummies with the taste of Thailand.

So for hubby and I, we ordered :~

Green Curry

A small pot of Green Curry and a plate of Pineapple Rice enough for 2 pax. The picture below shows a small portion from the actual plate of Pineapple Rice served on our table.

Pineapple Rice

Yup! That was our initial plan.

However, my fruit-king, a.k.a my younger son, saw the word 'Mango' on the menu and wanted to order it. Well, its the famous 'Mango Sticky Rice'.
At first he said he just wanted the 'Mango' only and hope that we would eat the 'Sticky Rice'.
In the end, after taking a small bite into the sticky rice, he almost wanted ALL of it to himself!
The rest of us did manage to bite portion of Sticky Rice before all of it ended up inside the little one's tummy.
*laugh*

Mango Sticky Rice

I am not sure if this place is suitable for everyone though.
Hubby and I left the restaurant with a 'heat' in our throat which took many hours to go away.
Those few hours were indeed uncomfortable...kept drowning myself with plain water.

But was the food nice?
100% Yes!
They were really YUMMY!

Was it worth the price?
Oh well, it positioned itself as a restaurant, so expect restaurant type of pricing please.
I am saying this because I am looking at the amount served in the bowl/plate against the amount charged on the bill.

Did it bring back the 'Thai Feel'?
Not exactly though....but very close, very close indeed!
*wink*

Teppanyaki in City Square Johor Bahru, Malaysia

I love shopping in City Square Johor Bahru, Malaysia and ever since the semi-shut down of the mall because of the major renovation, I was missing the place. Sadly, I was the ONLY one in the family who liked shopping at City Square, the rest prefer KSL.

Anyway, after the Big 'Make-Over' of the mall was completed, some of the things which I liked were no longer there, but new things attracted me.
If you want to try eating from a "toilet bowl", you can find a very unique restaurant on the top level of the shopping mall, which serves your food in toilet-bowl-like bowls. We did not try, simply because we do NOT like the idea, though it may appear funky to many youngsters.

Well, we went to the mall for another reason.
The Teppanyaki Stall in the DAPURKITA Food Mall.
The layout and theme of the Food Mall instantly reminded us of the Food Court in JEM.
I wonder if the designer is the same for both, or MAYBE its the SAME BOSS!!!????
Oh well, we are more interested in the food.

Nothing else attracted us inside the DAPURKITA Food Mall except for the Teppanyaki stall which you can see on the right side of the photo above.

Before you can buy anything from the eatery, you need to get a 'Credit Card' from the Cashier.

For us, we did NOT choose to get a REFUND after our meal, because we kept going back to savour the yummy Teppanyaki dishes, so we KEPT the card and top up with more money as and when we are there.

I have lost count how many times we had been sitting infront of the Teppanyaki stall.
My boys LOVE to sit there even though its smoky and everyone's hair and shirt will smell like as if we dunk into a tub of oil.
They get to watch how their food or other's are cooked and  its an entertainment to them. I am not sure if it was the cling-clang sound that the chef makes as he cooks away on the big hot 'flat top stove' or the tastiness of the food or both that helped increased their appetite.

It is NOT a must to sit infront of the stall. You can choose to bring your tray of Teppanyaki goodies to other parts of the DAPURKITA Food Mall, find a table and enjoy it there too.

Hubby would go for the Beef Teppanyaki Bento....always.
Elder son is faithful to his Garlic Fried Rice with Chiken (which meant Chicken)
Younger son loves the Prawn Teppanyaki Bento.

And me?
Had tried Beef Teppanyaki Bento and Mix Vegetables Teppanyaki Ala Carte on different occasions.
Please remember that we are in City Square Johor Bahru, Malaysia, so all the prices above are in Ringgit.
I apologise for the lack of price showing on the right side of the menu. I will take another photo and replace this one, the next time we visit again.

However, I must highlight that different chefs (on duty that day) create slight differences to the taste of the same dish, but OVERALL, its still delicious enough to make us somehow addicted to it.

So if you are in for some heaty gourmet the next time you visit Johor Bahru, Malaysia, this just might be the one for you. *smile*

[Final] Revised Recipe for Nutella Muffins using HappyCall Pan

This is a continuation of this post "Nutella Cupcakes with HappyCall Pan", so if you had yet to read that, you will NOT understand why I had changed from a 3-ingredients Nutella Muffins to the current 7-ingredients Nutella Muffins.

Thus, I strongly suggest that you hop over there first before you continue here.....

Though the previous post seemed to be a nice ending, I made a number of mistakes after that.
Firstly, I misunderstood the difference between muffins and cupcakes and I was corrected by my friend sternly after she read my post. Thus, it was a wrong title for the previous post.

Next, I had NO idea of how to pack them for people who are not staying with me. I did not cool them enough and put them inside an air-tight canister! *faint* The end result was horrible! The muffins became soggy and stuck to their teeth which was TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE of what my family tasted when we were at home. *slap forehead*

Lastly, I mentioned in my previous post that overnight muffins did not taste as nice, its not true!!!
All because of the way I stored them.
Now that I know the reason, my Nutella muffins still taste nice even leaving them overnight.
Therefore, I can do night baking now and spend my day time with my family, instead of cooping in the kitchen.

Anyhow, I was taken aback by how much my hubby and my 2 boys loved my Nutella Muffins. They get gobbled up so fast and my boys, especially my elder one will say: "Mummy, can you bake Nutella Muffins again? No more already." *faint*

I had been baking like almost every alternate day with 2 bakes a day! The frequency of my bakes had become so often until hubby thinks I should go get another HappyCall Pan to meet the 'big demand'! *laugh*

I am so glad that out of 18 rounds of baking, from earlier part of August till this day, ALL 18 bakes were deeply loved by my family. Each bake produces 12 mini-muffins, so I had baked an equivalent of 216 mini-muffins to date!!!!! *faint*

Why I used 'equivalent' is because now I have 3 different muffins-holders :
Normal-size,
Mini-Size
and
Super-Mini-Size.

Just in case you think that I had been counting, I didn't!
With the grams stated clearly on the Nutella containers, it is not difficult to keep track!
Just count the number of containers used! *laugh*
That is how happy I am!
The one and only thing I baked that was successful from the starting point.

In the previous post, I stopped at 6-ingredients and was truly happy with it, but still, not completely statisfied. I wanted more Chocolatey taste.
You know, the bitter-sweet Chocolatey taste?
Then my friend suggested that I should try Cocoa Powder.

Oh my!!!
It gave me the taste I wanted!
Yeah!
*clap clap clap*

After the difference cocoa powder made to my Nutella muffins. I played with the ingredients a few more times.

  • Put in Cocoa Powder, but took Cinnamon Powder.
then another time....
  • Reduced the amount of Nutella with Cocoa Powder alone.
then another round....
  • Reduced the amount of Nutella with Cocoa Powder and Cinnamon Powder.

Yes, I played with the ingredients for another 3 rounds before I finally decided to stick to this:

  • 100g of Nutella
  • 2.5 tablespoon of Self-Raising Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon of Salted Butter
  • 2 pinch-es of Cinnamon Powder
  • Half teaspoon of Light Sour Cream
  • Half teaspoon of Cocoa Powder

  •  I mixed the Self-Raising Flour, Cinnamon Powder and Cocoa Powder in one bowl
  • And mixed the rest in another bowl
  • Before I combine them together

  •  Bakes for 20 mins for mini-size Nutella Muffins
  • Bakes for 22mins for normal size Nutella Muffins
  • Bakes for 16mins for super-mini-size Nutella Muffins
  • All using HappyCall Double Pan on gas stove
  • Fire between small and medium
***The amount of time may vary for you, just remember to use the toothpick to test.
Poke in the middle of the muffins, if the toothpick comes out clean, its ready.

And this 7-ingredient recipe for my Nutella muffins had stayed the same for the last 11 bakes and gave consistent results throughout.

So no more changing!
This 7-ingredients Nutella Muffin recipe is here to stay.

Yup!
That's it!
Another post of mine that made me smile........

My BIGGEST Mooncake Ever!!!

Received this BIG surprise from my sis and BIL on Sunday, 7th September 2013.

Firstly, the packaging was so oriental and I LOVE oriental things, especially the pop-up velvet wordings on the cover.

Kept rubbing my fingers on them.....an action that comes naturally whenever I touch velvety stuff. Actually.....my fingers were busy playing with the cover. They were either rubbing against the velvety chinese wordings or my index finger would be swirling the pale yellow "xu-xu" that's dangling from the cover. *laugh* My new toy!

Sister always remembers to buy egg-yolk-mooncakes for me. Not the snow skin type, but the traditional kind.
The more yolk the merrier I would be!!!!

Ok, spare me the cut-down-the-calories and eat-healthy type of talk.
Its ONCE a Year indulgence!
Come On!
Get a Life!

And when I saw how many egg-yolks there were!
My eyes glittered!
*ting ting*

As if it was not good enough, I got a pleasant surprise when I lift up the cover......Tea to go with it!
Great for digestion!
Nice combo!
*thumbs up*

Then came the
BIGGEST
SURPRISE OF ALL!!!!

A 16cm Diameter Mooncake!!!!
*Jaws Dropped*
*SCREAM*

Ok Sis!
Spot the word "EVER" in the title???
This is BIG enough to satisfy my yearly craving for egg-yolk mooncake already.
So NO MORE 'upgrades' ok???
*huge laugh*

And this reminded me of the GINOMOUS mooncake featured in the show : Jia Hao Yue Yuan.
*eyes popped*

Love the thought.
Love the effort.
Love the surprise.
Love the mooncake.

Thank you Sis and BIL!
*hugs*

Nutella Cupcakes with HappyCall Pan

--> Cooking has never been my forte.
Baking is worse!

I consider myself a very diligent student when it comes to reading recipe books.
Never miss a step.
Never add 1gm.
Never subtract 1ml.
But somehow, whatever that I had baked in the past never looked anything close to the photo beside the recipe.

Then YouTube came along and chefs of all sorts started flooding the site flaunting their cooking / baking skills.
I followed each move faithfully.
I took the extra step to buy the exact same brand used by the YouTuber-chef.
But still fail.

Then, as a housewarming gift, 2nd SIL and 2nd BIL bought the amazing HappyCall Pan for me (Read "Officially A HappyCall Owner Now!") Never did I expect that this HappyCall Pan would one day become my oven!

With this gem in my hands, I wanted to make full use of it. Joining the HappyCall Pan Private Facebook Group is probably the most rewarding group I had joined on the social media site.

The FIRST dish I tried with the recipes shared in the group was "Pork Stew with HappyCall Pan".

Every day I would be hoping to see another simple recipe for me to venture.....and it happened again!
Here comes the SECOND:-

NUTELLA MINI CUPCAKES

Just 3 items!
No way it can get any simpler (I was happy!)

The recipe shared in the group was :~
100g Nutella
2.5 tablespoon of Self Raising Flour
1 egg

My younger one mixing them all up

Then it was written in the instructions that the Nutella mini Cupcakes go into the HappyCall Pan for 30mins on small fire

What is 'small fire' mentioned in the Facebook group?
That person's 'small fire' might NOT be my 'small fire'.
There isn't a 'small' indicated on the knob of my stove.
So how small is small?!
I really don't know.
I could only try.
With a little luck and a lot of 'checking', I hope my mini cupcakes would survive.

In this 1st ATTEMPT, I was really nervous and kept checking every 5mins.

After 20mins, it looked like this!

Fully puffed up!

I thought, "This Can't be right! The instructions said its supposed to be 30mins! I am 10mins ahead of that time. Its ahead of the target."

So I took a toothpick and poked the center to check.
It came out dry.
Whoo-hoo!
Its cooked!
Ooops! Or should I say its BAKED!

My elder one arranging them on the plate

Together with my two boys, we were eager to take our first bite into it.
It looks ok on the inside.
But the top texture was like brownie, a little crusty.

The taste was NOT shiok!
I like very 'RICH' chocolatey taste.
But this is just, ok.

Still, I'm happy that its EDIBLE!!!
Yeah!
'Cos ALL of my previous baking adventure using the HappyCall Pan ended up in the bin.
*thumbs down*

The bite above was taken when the Nutella mini Cupcake was still in its Silicon holder. So we did not see the bottom, which turned out to be a horror!

It looked BURNT!
It smelled BURNT!
But it DIDN'T taste burnt!
It was like biting into biscuits. Crunchy!
So is it burnt?
I don't know.
So confusing!

*scratch head*

As the texture on the bottom didn't quite match with the other parts of the cupcake, my kids and I only bite into 90% of the Nutella mini cupcakes, leaving these behind :

All 11 pieces were gone in seconds....filling up our tummies.
Verdict : Edible.
-------------------------------------------

2nd ATTEMPT on the very next day, 6th August 2013. I felt that the chocolatey taste of the Nutella was not strong enough, so I added Cinnamon powder this time. According to the famous Laura Vitale from 'Laura in the Kitchen', Cinnamon brings out the best chocolate flavor and so I tried.

Since 11pieces did not seem enough yesterday, I DOUBLED the quantity this time, making BIG and small Nutella cupcakes.

Elder son doing the mixing this time round

After lowering the fire in this 2nd attempt, it took 28mins .........closer to recommended 30mins

The bottom was still the same as my 1st attempt : Darker than it should! I was seriously wondering if my 'small fire' was STILL not small enough, because the one who posted the recipe in the HappyCall Facebook Private Group did not mention anything about burnt-looking-bottom cupcakes.

There and then, I decided to go for the 3rd attempt the next day again, but with the Knob on my Stove pointing to the SMALLEST fire mark.

I was also not very happy with the texture, its between cake and brownies.
I prefer it to be softer and moist.

Yet, I have to say that with a pinch of Cinnamon, the Nutella cupcakes did taste nicer!
*Thumbs up*

Even my 2 fans agree that this batch is better than the 1st.........

-------------------------------------------

3rd ATTEMPT was what I did first thing in the morning.

My aim this time was :~
  1. No more burnt-looking bottoms
  2. More chocolatey (the 'chocolate-ness' in the 2nd attempt was still not enough for me)
  3. Softer and moist texture

In order to improve the texture, I added ANOTHER ingredient : Butter!
From a simple 3-item ingredient, now it has become a 5-item recipe.

To make it more chocolatey I added another 10g of Nutella to the recommended quantity.
Thus, with the additional ingredients (butter and  extra 10g of Nutella), I could fill up one more mini silicon cupcake holder, making the total count to 12 pieces (compared to 11 in the first attempt.)

But with the Stove Knob pointing to the SMALLEST Fire marking......OMG!!! It took sooooooooo long for it too be ready!!!!

The time stated by the HappyCall Pan Facebook group member was 30mins.
But at 35mins my mini cupcakes still had sticky-watery residue on the toothpick, when I poke it into the center of the cupcakes to test!
*faint*

It felt like its going to bake forever!!!!!!
*double faint*

I knew the strength of the fire was definitely wrong!
So I turned up the heat and checked every minute after that!

So nerve-racking!

I did not want my previous 40mins (5mins of preparation and 35mins on stove) to go wasted and land my 3rd attempt into the bin!

After a total of 41 mins (jaws dropped) on the stove, in the HappyCall Pan, this beautiful-looking Nutella mini cupcake glided out of the silicon holder.

The inside was soft and moist and fragrant too!
YUM!
The butter really made the difference!

The extra 10g of Nutella was still not 'chocolatey' enough for me though.
Hhhmmm....
Hard to please a chocolate addict like me.
But I liked the darker brown colour of my cupcakes now as a result of this small increment (+10g) of Nutella.
Look!

 Previously :

 and now

With extra 10g of Nutella :

You might be asking : "What about the 'bottom'? Was it burnt-looking just like the first two attempts?"

Nope!
It looked beautiful.
But it was crusty.
Too Dry at the bottom.
So in my view, it still did not hit my target.

Hhhhmmm.......
Hubby and I talked about it and came to a conclusion that its probably because the silicon holders was on the baking tray, which was resting directly on the HappyCall Pan, which was right on top of the fire; thus causing the texture of the bottom of the cupcake to be different from the other parts of the cupcake.

We wanted to make this work.
As this is the VERY FIRST TIME, I did NOT throw away something which I tried to bake using HappyCall Pan, in first attempt.
So this is truly a very consoling experience for me.

Maybe its due to our experience as a bazaar-retailer for so many years in the past, we are a very DIY-couple.
Hubby came up with an idea to lift the silicon cups OFF the baking tray, so that the bottom of the cupcakes will not be receiving more heat than the rest of the cupcakes.
I agreed.

Was not aware that hubby put the idea to work when its already past midnight, while I was asleep!
Aaawwwww.......
*super hugs*
And I woke up in the morning feeling loved when I saw his creation on the table:

-------------------------------------------

4th ATTEMPT in making Nutella mini cupcakes and I had changed from the recommended 3-item ingredient to 6-item ingredients.

What have I added this time?
Sour Cream!

Did you go "HUH?!"
*giggle*

I went "HUH?!" very loudly too when I first heard that Laura Vitale from 'Laura in the Kitchen' added sour cream when making muffins. She said: "The sour cream makes the cake part itself so moist and delicious"

 Well, I trust her!
And so my final 'combo' to make Nutella cupcakes ended up like so :~

Remember I was still unsatisfied with the amount of 'chocolate flavour' in the cupcakes of the 3rd Attempt?

So in this 4th try, I added more cinnamon powder and another 10g of Nutella; making it 20g more than the recommended quantity.
Too daring?!

I think I forgot an important lesson :  In any attempt, there should only be ONE change, now I'm changing TWO things at the same time!

Errrr......actually, its THREE!
*tongue in cheek*
Because I find that the fire was way too small in the 3rd attempt. I do not want to wait another 41mins!!!!
Thus I put the stove knob back to the same range as my 2nd attempt, somewhere between medium and small (fire).

The result of the 4th attempt????

Looks nice don't they???
Actually, it tasted really yummy too!
But......I think its either I added too much cinnamon powder or the extra-extra 10g, it was a little too sweet for me.
See?!?!
CANNOT change MORE THAN ONE VARIABLE at any one attempt.
*sigh*
Now I do not know which one should I change back.
Hhhhmmmmm........
*knock head*

Yet, the sweetness reminded me of the chocolate cake which we buy often from Four Leaves Bakery, which I love to the core!

So I'm a little torn.
Should I leave it or should I change the quantity?
Hhhmmm.....

My biggest fan, my elder son, had been popping at least 2 Nutella mini cupcakes into this mouth every single day and he thinks that this 4th attempt is the best thus far.
So should I change?
Hhhmmm....

Hey!
Up to this point, I realised that I had not shared the quantity for each ingredient!
Alright, so based on my 4th attempt, its this :

  • 120g of Nutella
  • 2.5 tablespoon of Self-Raising Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon of Salted Butter
  • 2 pinch-es of Cinnamon Powder
  • Half teaspoon of Light Sour Cream

However, I strongly recommend that the Nutella mini cupcakes are consumed within the SAME day.

Somehow, the taste of an overnight cupcake is not as nice as when it was out of the HappyCall Pan after 30mins.
Oooohhhh....that is the BEST time to gobble them up!
Yum! Yum!

The cupcakes are NOT perfect, but to my boys, it has become their favourite thing that Mummy could make with HappyCall Pan.
Muah Chee used to be on the top of the list, now these Nutella mini cupcakes has taken its place.
*smile*

My younger boy had even 'placed order' for my Nutella mini cupcakes to be packed for his school excursion next week.
*feeling REALLY happy*

Now that we know 'fresh' ones taste so much better....guess I'll have to wake up an hour earlier that day..... wouldn't want him to have overnight cupcakes.
*Grin*

This is a post that made me smile from the beginning till end.
Feeling really good.
Because I can FINALLY BAKE something Decent!

Yeah!
*clap clap clap*

NEW Updates to this post (19th September 2013) : After this 4th attempt, I tried to change the recipe again and the FINAL revised recipe is over here "[FINAL] Revised Recipe for Nutella Muffins"

Nutella Cupcakes with HappyCall Pan
