I'm a pro in queuing for 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa now (Nah, not really!) , so I did not spend that much time in the queue anymore, unlike my past experiences.....
so NO MORE 3 hours and 16mins for me! *laugh*
(read this post, if you want to know what happened during my 3hours and 16mins in 2012.)
Oh well, I have improved!
This year, I decided to start queuing BEFORE the stall opens for business.
Something which I had not tried in previous years.
I remembered the stall starts operating at 11am, but I reached there at 10.25am.
I went yesterday, 23rd January 2014, eight days before Chinese Lunar New Year.
People in queue gets to sit on the empty seats as the line moves.
However, I think there had been complains....
At 10.33am, the people of 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa told us to queue AWAY from the seats, hence my standing position towards the shop, which was flooded with red and yellow 'pineapples' decorations on the ceilling, changed from the picture above to the picture below.
I reached there at 10.25am and I was already the 16th person in queue.
I wonder what time did the FIRST person started standing infront of the stall.
Hhhmmm......10am? 9.45am? 9am???!!!
Oh well, my doting hubby wanted to go at 9am to queue on my behalf.
But I put a 'spell' on him and he was queuing in his dreamland when I sneaked out of the house alone.
*laugh*
I was prepared to wait till 11am before I could see the stall owner lifting up the metal door.
Surprisingly, my wait was shortened when the lights came on at 10.38am!
Hooray!!!
*clap clap clap*
Their Kaching Kaching moment for the day has started again!
Money and LOTS OF IT, falling into their pockets like rain!
Heavy Downpour!!!
*laugh*
At 10.57, I could clearly see the youngest staff (see the guy with red shorts on the right of the picture below) busy distributing big bags or boxes of yummy Bak Kwa (roasted pork slice) to customers who had placed BIG ORDERS on previous days.
By the way, the red bags and boxes filled with packets of Bak Kwa were on the floor, infront of his knees, on the shelf, as well as INside THE HALF CLOSED shop!!!!
Oh! Just in case you did not know, both shops (side by side) belong to them; during Chinese New Year period, you can see the staff taking things in and out from one of the two shops to another.
Names of customers and quantities ordered were written with markers on the red bags and boxes to identify which order belonged to which customer.
I did see some ridiculous numbers written on them.
I wonder if they were for the WHOLE COMPANY or the WHOLE department.
'cos I think I would be bleeding Bak Kwa juices after eating that much!!!
*jaws dropped*
At 11:07am, I am the 6th in queue!
Yeah!
*clap clap clap*
Thank goodness my runny nose was not running a marathon this morning, but more of 100metres dash every now and then.
Otherwise, I will not be able to smell the fragrance of the yummy Bak Kwa, which kept my tired and sick body awake.
Ooops!
The spotlight was too bright?!
Left $44 is the price for "MINCED TYPE" of Bak Kwa
Center $46 is the price for the popular "SLICED TYPE" of Bak Kwa
Right $48 is the price for the "CHILLI FLAVOURED TYPE" of Bak Kwa
I prefer the Minced Type because of my 'false tooth'.
Its thinner and softer, but less flavourful compared to the popular Sliced Type.
So I bought 500g for Minced Type just for myself. *wink*
I left the stall at 11:20am.
Total 55mins spent.
Pretty good, I would say!
*thumbs up*
The 5 packets of 财好肉干 Chai Ho Bak Kwa were slung over my left arm, even when I was on the crowded bus..... on my way home.
I was surprised that 2.5kg of yummy Bak Kwa could make such deep red marks on my skin....
No Pain, No Gain????
*giggle*
