H1N1

Everyone is on the alert. Its scary. Not the H1N1 flu. But the sight of what will be like if it really hit home.

Now, when we are still clean from any records of the virus, places that are air-conditioned like the Library and the HDB HUB, where thousands walk in and out everyday for property transactions and inquiries had their many doors shut with only one left.

Everyone had to go through a guided path to scan if your body reflected red instead of the cool blue green on the monitor as you walk pass the scanner. Yesterday, all we wanted was to find a nice clean toilet and we had to queue behind hundreds of people waiting for their Identity Card to be checked.

Seriously, I do not understand why is there a need to check IC? If the scanner has already shown that we are not having fever (no red signs), why do we still need to show our IC? The Singapore Changi Airport are already doing their job to quarantine those who flew back from affected countries. Why then are they still doing this in the residential area? Is it a measure to ensure that those under quarantined did not sneak out? Or is this more like a terrorist-prevention measure? I don't understand, can someone tell me? Why check IC?

So in the end, we gave up. Turned our heads and left the never-seem-to-have-any-progress queue. Then we heard a ridiculous statement over News on TV yesterday, "If you are feeling unwell, please do NOT take the public transport."

*faint*

What then do you expect the person to do?! What if he stays in Tampines and works in Tuas. A distance that usually takes an hour using public transport. What should he do then? Cycle on 2 wheels from one end of Singapore to another? Go rob the bank so that he can buy a car? Or walk for an unimaginable number of hours to and fro? Or worse, camp at the working place? Some statements are just so....... *eyes rolled*....

oh please, say something like, "If you are feeling unwell, please wear a mask." OR "Stay at home." These sound more reasonable doesn't it?

Scan IC to go toilet? Now that is a first!!!

And don't take public transport? But walk on the streets is ok?? Walk on the streets also can go into the mall...also can sneeze in someone's face!!!

Talk about extremem measures...wow!
